Actioning Canada’s Plan to END GBV

SHE Associates Supports Important Research on Gender-Based Violence in Canada with the John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights

From 2023 to 2025 SHE Associates was glad to work with the John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights as an expert advisor on its national report on Gender-Based Violence in Canada titled Igniting Change on Canada’s Action Plan to End GBV released in September 2025.

SHE Associates supported in regular advising on research methodology, content review and the overall approach of this heavily participatory and comprehensive research funded by Women and Gender Equality (WAGE) Canada.

The report presented findings on the realities of the gender-based-violence sector in Canada, including a specific focus on marginalized populations, and infrastructure.

It also used heavily participatory methods including surveys, focus groups, interviews and community dialogues, amplifying the voices of sector workers across Canada and victims and survivors.
A total of 405 surveys, 22 interviews, 25 community dialogues with survivors and workers from across Canada were developed, implemented and analyzed.

The findings of this important research were organized by 5 key pillars:
Pillar 1: Support for Victims, Survivors and Their Families
Pillar 2: Prevention
Pillar 3: Access to Justice
Pillar 4: Indigenous-Led Approaches
Pillar 5: Social Infrastructure and Enabling Environments
